Look at all the genre fiction! On t'other hand, we've only got two categories that are exclusively non-fiction. Balance, I say, vote Biography!

Only if we are doing books about comedians. Any others don't count. That's a fair compromise.

As the proverb says, many a true word is spoken in jest. Chaucer knew this, for he wrote in "The Cook's Tale" (from the often very humorous Canterbury Tales:
Quote:

"Ful ofte in game a sooth I have herd saye!"
If you love Truth, vote Humor. :D

Maybe we are better off with biography and memoirs if Canterbury Tales is supposed to be funny (it's not at all funny).

It is to those of us who occasionally enjoy dry wit, and I haven't even read it since high school.

There is a grain of truth in every joke as well.

Bumping because we need another vote for Biography, unless Fearless Leader has seen the light! :D

CRussel 08-18-2015 12:17 PM

Your wish is my command. :)

We need to laugh more. Laughter is good for you. Plus, it's more enjoyable when you are reading something that makes you laugh.

WT Sharpe 08-18-2015 02:43 PM

Laughter really does do the heart good. Humor is perhaps the only genre with proven health benefits.

Well, I wasn't going to vote since I don't really care which way this particular vote goes, but, given that there are only 31 minutes left and it is still a tie vote, maybe I could be convinced to vote one way or the other for the right incentive. ;)

Ah well, too late. Looks like Tom gets the last vote.

It's for the best. I considered posting something like that a couple days ago but waited till the last minute on purpose in case someone took it seriously so I would "accidentally" not have enough time to actually respond. :)

Unless Tom has been tricking us this whole time here are the final selections, order to be determined by WT Sharpe at a later time:
• Science Fiction
• Fantasy
• Mystery
• Thriller, Suspense & Crime
• Classics
• History
• Science
• Patricia Clarke Memorial Library
• Award Winners (fiction)
• Humor
(presumed)

Plus:
January: Second Chance
July: Free-For-All

Yes, that is the line-up. I have edited the poll results to add my vote for humor. Now half of you may officially hate me with the hate I was reserving for CRussel when it looked as if his vote would mean victory for the other choice. ;) It sure was a nail-biter.

"Hate" is such a strong word. How about "mild loathing?" ;)
