Except in one place: the home screen. The only way to turn pages in your library (unless you have a Voyage, or an old Kindle with hardware buttons) is with a swipe. As you say, though, when you're actually reading a book, you can use either a tap or a swipe; both work.

True--I was only thinking of within a book. Thanks for the clarification :)

I know that you knew :). Just clarifying for the benefit on non-Kindle-owners.

I agree; if you're going to have buttons, have both "page forward" and "page back" buttons on each side of the device, so it can be used equally easily by left- and right-handed readers using it one-handed. Eg, as a left-handed person, I normally read holding my Kindle in my right hand, so my left hand is free for doing other stuff with, so for me, having buttons on the right side of the device is good; I imagine the reverse is true for right-handed people.

I didn't think that I did but I've been using them on my voyage and I prefer that to on screen page turning. The buttons Don't provide you with the same feedback as say those on the nook simple touch but the haptic feedback is sufficient for me.

It depends on the device. I prefer the buttons on my Pocketbook Touch Lux, because the touch screen doesn't always work properly when selecting words. However, on my Paperwhite I'm fine without buttons.

I like the buttons on the Onyx Boox I86ml.
