I've never seen this before. All but one have one vote each!
Had to vote for Lehane because the book is on my TBR pile for this year anyway, but Graham Greene...he's always expensive as an ebook, but I've been looking for an excuse to read him - so this might be it.
I voted for three in hope that any one of them win :)
Here are some Amazon and (since I was looking them up there anyway) Goodreads links for a few of them:
In the Woods - Goodreads / Amazon UK / Amazon US The Riddle of the Sands - Goodreads Our Man in Havana - Goodreads / Amazon Ca / Amazon UK (Amazon have left an important 'with' out of the title, but it is the complete book) |
I'm hoping the Silent Partner will prove to be the real silent majority. I'm in the mood for a good Perry Mason mystery (is there any other kind?).
Only one of our nominees has a Goodreads rating above 4.0! Are mystery readers more discerning than the typical Goodreads reviewer?
The Case of the Silent Partner by Erle Stanley Gardner 3.71 Cocaine Blues by Kerry Greenwood 3.75 In the Woods by Tana French 3.71 The Riddle of the Sands by Erskine Childers 3.61 The Liquidator by John Gardner 3.46 Vanishing Act by Thomas Perry 4.05 A Drink Before the War by Dennis Lehane 3.97 The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie 3.69 Our Man in Havana by Graham Greene 3.94 The Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall 3.87 |
I have doomed five of the entries to losing by voting for them. :)

Well, there's only one in here that I have no interest whatsoever in reading, but it looks like that's going to be the winner. :( That's OK, I can take the month off.
Wow! Graham Greene galloped into the lead. I've just placed a hold on an audio book at my library.
I don't recall a vote where one book had such a big lead.

^Stop rubbing it in. I had to have an entire month of only my selections to get one of my nominees voted for.
I'm already listening to the audiobook for Our Man in Havana. I'll be trying to track down the library book as well. For some reason, I feel like I'm missing out a bit if I listen to a book rather than read it.
To no one's surprise who's been watching the vote, undoubtedly, Our Man in Havana by Graham Greene is far and away the winner this month. So let's all grab a copy and get reading! :)

You're going to have to travel to Canada to get that book, Tom. And it's expensive at $13.39 Our Man in Havana. But it does accept coupons. And that's Canadian $$, which are only about .83 of US ones right now.
However, it's one of the reasons I'm probably not participating this month. :( |

I'm probably going to listen to the audiobook as soon as I finish the one I'm currently on, and that is available in the US too if anyone's interested. Here are the links - Audible US - Audible UK Quote:

Well, but you could take a very quick trip north? We don't mind, tourists are always welcome, even if they only come for a few minutes. :)
I had the pleasure of visiting a Victoria, BC for a day. I'd love to see the rest of Canada if I ever get the chance.
