I use covers on all my devices. I have been trying different colors, but for some reason I only really like red covers. I have tried navy, purple, black, even tan. Nope always go back to red covers. It's like Harry's all black covers. Only for me they are all red.

Strange but I have a deep orange color cover for my phone. So I guess there is hope for me still.

My first very expensive Sony came with a lovely quilted cover and I thought this was great. And in those days Sony readers were built like tanks compared to today.

I've dropped my Sony PRS-350 in the Sony official cover on concrete at least 3 times from 2.5' height and not even a scratch. Those things were built like little tanks with the metal fronts.

I carry my PRS-600 (and my PRS-505 before it) w/o a case, 'cause that allows it to fit in the pockets of my (older style) Travelsmith shirts.

I always use a cover or case, especially for tablets and phones. I sell most of my older devices when I upgrade, so I try to keep them as nice looking as possible.

I got a case with a built-in stand for my first tablet, and since then I can't be without. The cases offer more ways to hold (or not hold) the device, and my gadgets do travel quite a bit, so they need the protection.

The only one that does not travel a lot is my Surface Pro 2. I don't have a cover for that, only a screen protector (required, as my cat loves playing with it...) and a sleeve in case I do want to take it with me.

So what will you get when your 600 finally breaks?

Since ereaders get smaller and lighter it's much, much easier for me to handle them while reading with a cover. When I have a need to take them out of the cover and handle them it seems quite awkward. And, with the cover, I don't have to worry so much about the dog stepping on the Kindle or me rolling onto the Kindle. The cover doesn't make the device indestructible but it sure helps protect it.

Sad to say, I've already replaced it more-or-less w/ an Asus Virotab Note 8. (But it doesn't fit in a pocket (yet).)

I was seriously considering an Asus EEE Note though.
