A few high school libraries banned it, however this was mostly caused as a result of the objection to the film.

I didn't know that, although I HAVE watched the movie. Thanks for clearing that up.

Unless I'm mistaken, the book was never banned; only the movie.

A Clockwork Orange qualifies as a banned book. Now's your chance to join right in with a nomination. I'm even willing to provide links. :)

Edit: I stand corrected. Didn't see above posts.

Thanks BelleZora, but my turn will have to wait...see above.

Evidently it qualifies, if you want to nominate it.

Well I DO! I nominate A Clockwork Orange. Although this to and fro is confusing.

WT Sharpe 08-22-2014 02:06 PM

I stand firmly corrected: A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess is listed on the American Library Association's list of Banned & Challenged Classics.

The only effect banning a book has is to make more people want to read it in order to find out what it was that made others want to ban it.

I'd like to third Huckleberry Finn and second Les Miserables and Fanny Hill.

crich70 08-23-2014 04:28 AM
