"saved searches" window not opening

My last saved search was very long, without spaces, causing the "saved searches" window to be very wide - wider then the screen. now the "saved searches" window is not opening.

can someone tell me in which file and folder i can fined ( - recover) them. So my work wasn't wasted.

BetterRed 05-26-2014 07:42 PM

@user743 - try tweak_book_gui.json in config folder

here is the file

It is readable in Notepad, just not a default format (json)

Open With: Notepad

I did not see a lot of customizations to lose, so rename it.. A new one will be created the next start of calibre

@user743 - If you use a 'smart editor' then json files are easily editable

I use Notepad++ - see attachment

before editing .json files I copy them to to .jsonsave in case I screw up.

it's a small file and if my saved searches were there i'd find them in notepad. it should be full of these characters: <>.*+?

@user743 - IMO Notepad is useless for reading/editing json files.

If you have a half decent HTML/XML editor then it may layout json files in a usable fashion.

Otherwise I suggest Notepad++ Home ( click)

Added : If you're stuck with Notepad only - search for saved_searches see attachment

I dont want to edit or read the file i just want to copy the saved searches and "saved replaces" so i can reuse them. (in a sense reading them.)

Yes you did, but I interpreted your post 4 message as saying the file was 'unreadable', I may have been influenced by the other response.

Are you sure you saved them - maybe you clicked Cancel instead of OK, I've done that before now. Its one of the reasons I try to avoid the mouse, Enter and Escape are too far apart to get confused.

I just realised there's an easy way to see which Saved Searches you have - Search->Saved Searches will give you a list of them :smack:

user743 05-27-2014 09:29 PM

user743 05-27-2014 09:32 PM
