Is there a free indexing software program that does a quicker job than Word's indexer?

Word has a pretty good indexing capability. What is the issue you are having with it?

Oh, just looking for something easier for 1400+ pages :-) may have to do the hard work.

Software can't do an index --- it can only do a concordance.

Best thing for any author is to hire an indexer --- when Nancy Mulvaney authored _Indexing Books_ she hired another person to index it for her --- an author is too close to the text and can't have the objectivity to index it properly.

Hiring is far away as an option.
