A short novel (1925).
‘Sorrow in Sunlight’ was Firbank’s preferred title. In the USA it was released as ‘Prancing Nigger’.
Set in a fictional West Indian republic (a mixture of Cuba and Haiti) this is the story of a socially ambitious family. Firbank has the ability to make snobbery an art form.
