So who's already pre-ordered Doctor Sleep?
The sequel to The Shining from Stephen King...

It reminds me of Black House, the sequel to The Talisman, featuring a grownup version of the kid in the original book and not having much to do with the other book plot-wise.

Me. It was on sale a couple weeks ago for $7.50, so I preordered. I'm looking forward to it a lot.

As to the original question: I don't pre-order, but I will likely get it before too long. |
My friend received the special-edition signed hardback in the post today. It look glorious (aesthetically, at least). I'm going to wait for her verdict before purchasing the book for myself.
|
Since the book costs $17.99, not only did I not pre-order, I won't be buying it. At least not until a price drop. Shame, since I like The Shining so much and I'd be interested in reading a sequel.

I have enough of a TBR list that I just wait for the price to drop. I picked up 11/22/63 a few months ago when the price dropped, but still haven't read it.

Be sure to check out Margaret Atwood's review of 'Doctor Sleep' in this week's NYTBR - she's highly laudatory of King's writing, and firmly places King in the pantheon of American historical/horror writing (Poe, Hawthorne, Melville, Henry James, etc.) - no real spoilers -- in her words:
"Wild ectoplasmic partly decayed vampire horses would not tear from me the story of what happens next, but let me assure you King is a pro ...." |
And yes, I've pre-ordered the Kindle version ($10.99 in USA)

I preordered it a while back and am rereading "The Shining" right now, as prep for it. :-)
