Sigil 0.7 Beta (0.6.901) Available
Beta's for 0.7 are now available. Please see the Changelog for a full list of changes.
The biggest visible change is a live preview that can be detached and placed on another screen. There were also some EPUB 3 enchantments. However, Sigil is still primality EPUB 2 at this point. It is basically EPUB 2 with support for some EPUB 3 features. Also, Sigil is now using Qt5. There is a known issue with context menus displaying with corruption on OS X. |

One time (first use) Crash
XP SP3
Edit: Preferences: renamed a dictionary and enabled: Clicked OK <windows error Bong> Gone  could not repeat, so just a heads up  |
Thanks. Windows could probably use a little more testing. Qt5 has really introduced a lot of changes in various places.
As a beta, please report anything - whatever it is. The beta User Guide should be up soon. Linux users (when someone compiles the beta) should note that the preferences have moved from $HOME/.local/share/data/.... to $HOME/.local/share/... due to a change in what Qt5 reports for the settings directory. You'll need to copy your files to the new area. Edit: To track issues: Spellcheck can cause a crash - best to wait for beta 2 to use any spellcheck features. There is a known issue with context menus displaying with corruption on OS X. Selection of text in Code View using mouse can be slow - try click then shift-click. Tabs may be left open when opening a new book - recommend closing all tabs first or after. |
A few things I forgot to Mention.
The switch to Qt5 has increased the package size by a large amount. This is especially true on Windows. There is no Windows x64 build. I have not decided if there will be one. The change to Qt5 has made building Qt more difficult. Right now I'm only using the prebuilt Qt package. |
Tabs from previous epub remain opened when new epub is loaded
First of all, thanks for this wonderful tool and all the improvements made.
Well, I started trying this beta and found that sometimes after working with an epub and saving it, when I load a new one (without closing the application) the opened html tabs of the previous epub remain in the screen. If I exit the application and open it again, it works fine until it happens again randomly. I have windows 7 64 bits. |
@sellew - thanks. I was never able to reproduce this after seeing it once, but knowing it still happens should help track it down.

Sigil User Guide 0.7.0 Beta available online
Help->User Guide will now take you to the new Sigil User Guide 0.7.0 Beta.
The main manual has been updated for 0.7.0 - including What's New - but the tutorials have not been updated yet. Let me know if there is anything needing updating, adding, etc. |
