K4 4.1.0 "Automatic keyboard"
As I understand it, one of the new 4.1 features is for the keyboard to pop-up automatically whenever you need it. This NEVER happens for me, and I'm on 4.1.0.
Anyone else have the same problem? |
Same here. The keyboard never shows up automatically.

Me too...:(

I think that's works only in touch versions and the pop up invoked by screen touch or some thing else?
I can't understand how it may work in NT version' it's almost impossible! |
This is about 4.1.0 - nothing to do with the Kindle Touch.
The way you might expect it to work is that in screens where there are text input fields, the on-screen keyboard would appear when when you move the cursor into a text field (and disappear when you move the cursor out); but in my experience of 4.1.0 so far, you still have to press the keyboard button. |
So 4.1.0 is another infamous Amazon step backwards as far as FW. This is probably unintentional, though Amazon has been known to intentionally take away features. I've noticed a lot of sloppy coding bugs over the past year or so in K4, K5, and K6, so I wonder if Amazon has extended itself too thin as far as programmers. They really need to improve their FW and especially their FW updates which sometimes introduce more problems than they solve.
One issue that troubles me is that K3, K4, K5, and K6 FW interfaces are often NEEDLESSLY very divergent. I understand that a keyboard K works differently than a non-keyboard/non-touch K, and that both work differently than a K5 Touch, and that all of these work differently than a K6, and that all of these work differently than K apps. After all they have different hardware and many different OSes. But even so, Amazon needs to be more consistent in two major areas: Feature Sets and Menu Organization. Looking at the various Kindles and apps it is obvious that the various developer teams don't communicate well with each other or coordinate features and menus. Whenever possible and within constraints all Kindles and apps should have the same basic feature sets and they should all have their menus organized in as similar a manner as possible. At present it certainly seems that each was designed by a totally independent team that had little interaction with the other teams. |

When you create or rename Collections it will pop up automatically now, which amazingly it didn't before. You all probably don't notice it because you don't mess with Collections often.
