[April fool] MobileRead has been sold.
Amazon to buy Mobileread
The Amazon has made a binding offer to purchase Mobilread in exchange for 10,000 shares of Amazon common stock at current market value. Alex Turcic, the owner, will still retain most control. He has also negotiated with Amazon representatives to grant each moderator, who have had enormous impact on the site, 1000 shares of stock each as well. The transfer of stock and ownership will take place by end of second calendar quarter of 2012. We anticipate the site will continue as it has before however exclusive titles from the Amazon will also be available in the Mobile Read library to MobileRead prime members. |
Nice try, Mr Obvious. Remember it is April 1st!

The headline alone made a few dozen heads explode.

Finally. Now all this ePub vs MOBI stuff can be put to bed. :D

In Soviet Russia, Mobileread buys Amazon.
|
As a frequent contributor here, including several e-books uploaded, I plan to sue for my rights to a proportion of Amazon stock.

BTW, guys, BOb wrote that article. I just altered a few phrases to make it lawyer-proof. ;)

Nice! I see Amazon is changing its logo, too. But hasn't someone else (Facebook, maybe?) already trademarked the Amazon river? Or was that all rivers? And the word river? And the word the? (I hope I'm not violating a new rule here.)
By the way, does this mean that we will now begin to receive royalties for the ebooks we've uploaded? |
LOL! Loved this!
|
I heard a rumor that Jon Wolfe opened up Mobileread this morning and had a stroke!
