This was one of my favorite books when I was a kid. Kingsley's wonderful fantasy is about a young chimney sweep named Tom, who is chased by irate townspeople until he falls into a river and seems to be dead. But Tom has turned into a water baby.

I found the original color plate illustrations by Jesse Wilcox Smith and included them in this version. I love her pictures.
