Page turning problems in 1.9.16

I'm curious as to how many people are experiencing a page turning problem in version 1.9.16 of the Kobo Touch.

For every 100 pages you turn while reading a book, how many times doesn't the page turn.

I picked "10 or more". Once in a blue moon the problem appears to go away, but then it comes back. on average, at least 1/10 of the page turns fail, and I've tried both swiping a tapping, and different regions.

I'm only reading side loaded EPubs.

I notice it on side loaded epubs more but it also is happening on the Kepub I am currently reading. I tend to only tap. I did notice if I go backwards then forward again I can correct it. I think unresponsiveness is more annoying than the double page turn that was out there than didn't happen as nearly as much.

And I thought I was going nuts! My page turns (and any other actions) seemed to only work about 50% of the time and I found it completely irritating.

Actually I did a basic reset (the hole in the back) and it seems to be fixed?!?! Well so far anyway.

I would say this easily happens 30% of the time or more. I will try to count it more accurately.

Not just in 1.9.16, but ever since I've owned it (for a year or more? can't remember when I got it...). I'm guessing 6 - 9, but it could be more. I've only noticed the problem when I tap to turn a page. Works great other than that.

To me, it looks like the same problem that has always existed with the touch except in 1.9.16 it's in a different form. Prior to 1.9.16 it was a dead tap followed by a double page turn when a second tap was made. Since 1.9.16 it is now just a dead tap. Tap again and the page turns. For me, this is better than a double turn.

If you are having trouble you should try tapping higher up in the screen if you are tapping at the very bottom.

Beta is working on making the turning better.

in my case, 2 pages turning happens more often than not turning at all.

I'm not into polls, but it hardly ever happens for me. I did see it periodically several versions back.

l have tried adapting how I tap to get more reliable page turns. Slower tap seems a little more reliable but nothing really gives reliable page turns.

I have dead taps quite commonly, but not consistently, which makes it even more frustrating, since you never know when to expect it.

What I really hate about 1.9.16 is the fact that my SD card is now pretty much useless. Any book on the SD card experiences weird behaviour. Even the simple presence of the card causes stranges things to happen.

It happened a fair bit in some earlier Firmwares, but this latest firmware, it's very infrequent.
I said 1 in a 100, but it's probably less than that.

My experience is exactly the opposite. I've noticed occasional dead taps and double taps every since I purchased my Touch when it was first released - probably about 1 every 100 pages. At that stage I assumed that it was my problem and I wasn't really tapping properly. At that low rate it was hardly a problem as it was so infrequent.

However immediately on upgrading to 1.9.16 my incidence of double taps sky rocketed to once every 2 or 3 pages. It was ridiculous and the Touch was virtually useless. I have done 2 factory resets and now the situation is much improved. The double taps seem to have been replaced by dead taps - probably about 10 times per hundred pages.

Still often enough to be quite annoying and in my mind quite a serious bug that I hope is fixed soon.

yes that would annoy me. Very strange how different people have different experiences with exactly the same hardware.
