Hi Kovid,
I have restored the DB with the following errors:

calibre, version 0.8.31
WARNING: Riuscito: Il ripristino del database è avvenuto con alcuni avvisi, fai clic su Mostra dettagli per vedere i dettagli. Il vecchio database è stato salvato come: X:\Library\metadata_pre_restore.db

Now the memory bursts have disappeared.

I have the OLD DB which caused the problem. Do you need it for debugging ?
