The Indigo Adopt a School Program is currently on now through September 22nd 2011.

Indigo has select 160 of the neediest schools from across Canada, and has decided to help them fill their libraries with new books, and they need your help!

For every $25 in E-gift cards you purchase you will give $12 (one book) to a school of your choice in need! There are no restrictions on the card, and it can be used at any Chapters, Indigo, Coles, or online at indigo.ca, and kobo.com.

Would they be willing to donate to a school near me instead of one in Canada?

Considering Chapters/Indigo is a Canadian company doing this promotion for Canadian schools, I'm guessing the answer would likely be 'No'.

I just bought a $50 gift card. A local school will get two books donated to them and I will use the card to buy books I would have bought anyway. The cards are purchased using PayPal or your credit card--no need to have an Indigo account. Definitely a neat thing to be able to do--even if you don't have a school near you on the list.

PS: the promotion ends on the 22nd, but the gift cards do not have an expiration date.
