This is an older version of the Survival Manual previously used by the United States Army. Distribution of the current version is restricted.

It covers survival from the viewpoint of a soldier on his/her own in hostile and unfamiliar territory.

As such it covers different terrain from cold weather, hot weather, jungle and other terrains and animals and plants which many people might never encounter. It speaks of obtaining food and water, shelter and first aid care.

I have made no attempt to alter the text from its military context, only to make it more readable in an ereader. The appendices referred to in the text are not included as they were absent in the original.

There is no copyright as this is an official US government document.
