This is a short story of about 13,300 words.

Set in a ballroom in 1809, the height of Napoleon’s splendour. Madame de Soulanges has lost both her husband’s affections and some jewellery, which he has given to his mistress. With the help of an older woman she managed to retrieve both the husband and the jewel.
