How do you make images for Kindle which are small enough that they don’t blow up to the full page in Kindle device and large enough so that they don’t look puny in Kindle app for Ipad?

Pondering that question just makes my head keep spinning. Suggestions? Or should I just keep praying to a deity that Amazon switches formats to epubs as soon as possible... :)
