Sony Reader: Reading Compiled HTML Help Files

Hi,

Could you tell me whether the Sony Reader can read compiled HTML help files (the type you get computing books in from mininova.org and the such like)? and PDF files?

Thanks,

Sean

The formats natively supported by the Sony Reader are:

Plain Text
RTF
PDF (*)
LRF (its native normal)

* You will - obviously - not have a great deal of success trying to read PDF files formatted for an A4 screen on a device with a screen 1/6th the area. It works great with PDF files formatted for the Sony's 90x120mm screen, but don't rely on being able to read A4 PDFs.

You can easily convert HTML files over to LRF using html2lrf which is part of Libprs500. There is a sticky thread on it over in the Sony Content section.

Have you tried a CHM to LRF for the SONY PRS-500 eBook Reader? How does it look?

You would need to decompile the CHM into HTML, and then convert that to a format the Reader can understand, such as LRF.
