Request for Recipe: Village Voice
Wondering if anyone would be willing to put together a recipe for The Village Voice.
Here is the link to their RSS Feeds: http://www.villagevoice.com/about/syndication/ I'm a complete incompetent when it comes to this stuff, but would be very grateful if someone were to put this together. |
Just bumping this up since it seems to have gotten buried.

Hey y'all -
I posted this request about a million years ago, but nothing ever came of it. Managed to remind myself of it when I was reading a lengthy voice article online this week. Just thought I'd bump it up to see if anyone wants to take on the challenge... |
have you tried making a basic recipe and add these feeds

Barty:
yes, and if you look at my original post from April 2010, you'll see that I provided the same link. I'm computer illiterate, but not actually illiterate. The problem is that the syndicated feeds only give the first page by default - it requires tweaks to pull the full article. That's where my skill ends. |

Sorry, apparently I have the opposite problem :)
Quick fix. |
Do you want all of these feeds to be included? Or are you looking at a specific feed e.g. only the news..
* Village Voice RSS Feed * Village Voice News RSS Feed * Village Voice Music RSS Feed * Village Voice Movies RSS Feed * Village Voice Restaurants RSS Feed * Village Voice Music Events RSS Feed * Village Voice Calendar Events RSS Feed * Village Voice Promotional Events RSS Feed * Village Voice Restaurant Guide RSS Feed I might have a look at it later. |

OK. I've been using since posted, and I was having trouble figuring out why only the front section was showing any articles, until it occurred to me that calibre doesn't re-download articles in multiple sections if they've already appeared (hence, the 2-3 "news" articles were buried in the full feed and not showing up in the "news" section). No need to change the recipe now that I've figured this out - I've customized and turned off the full feed and now i'm getting "news", "music" and "movies" in the way that I prefer. I just wanted to post an update for anyone else who may be confused as to why these sections are "empty".
Thanks again for working on this! I can usually figure out enough to not break things by modifying already-existing recipes. I'm just no good at creating them from scratch. |
