I like the TTS voice on my Pocket Pro, but I was wondering if there's any way to change it to something different?

As of right now, there is no way to change the TTS voice; this sounds like a firmware suggestion to me!

AT&T Truevoice is great (google for the demo. Can't post a sample due to terms of use )

The License fee is huge (probably more than Astak is worth , knowing AT&T ), so we get to have an "open source", free version of TTS,

Festival?
The OP asked about a better sounding Text to Speech.

AT&T (a major Telephone company) in the USA has a product that sounds great but is way far from free (also known as: Very Expensive).

Individuals can try it out, but can't post the sample output (or I would have).

Astak is not in a position to use a really good text to speech for the reasons stated (How much do you make? Send 5x of that if you want to use our content .).

It did not make a sound when I entered text and clicked "say it" (tride an alternate "voice" also)

I also noted the usage restriction at the bottom.
