A bug with images in epubs?
Often the image is overlaid with the text which, both being black, makes it difficult to read-I have to select the largest font size, read the bit I'm on, then reduce font size again. Is there a way round this other than downloading the stories without the images? (So far its only occured with this one story, only the second novel I've read on it)

That's probably a "bug" in the way Project Gutenberg generates ePUBs. I guess they use some automatic conversion from the HTML version, but not everything that can be done with HTML can be done with ePUB.

Yes, some ePubs generated by PG have problems. I ran into one where the image links didn't work: rather than illustrations, there were just statements like "Figure 0127.png".
