I tried to follow the instructions in this link.

Unfortunately when I "Update my Kindle" I get an error message U004.

My Kindle Keyboard has both WiFi and 3G capability.
It is running Version 3.3 of Kindle
The first few digits of the serial number are: B006 A0A0 ...

I used "update_jailbreak_0.11.N_k3g_install.bin"
And installed it to E:\ of the drive that appeared on my Windows Xp desktop.

I assume this is the root directory ?
Just in case, I also tried resetting the Kindle to the factory defaults, but no luck ...

@Paladin1956: Make sure you're using a recent package, the files have moved around a bit somwhat recently.

Redownload, and make sure you're using the correct file for your specific FW version.

@Paladin1956: The zip file is always here, and the name may be identical, but I happen to sometimes (somewhat) silently update it.

So, again, check with a fresh download, and with the correct, latest instructions from the first post

Press 'First'
Page down to bottom of that first post of this thread, download that package attached to the first post.

Hey, I just got my second hand Kindle 3 Keyboard with 3g, It has 3.3 fw usa, I'd like to use JB, LP, keyboard hack, custom screensaver, PDF reader (based on muPDF, GPLv3), CoolReader 3. Is this mods and hacks worsk with 3.4? So am I just apply 3.4 than the mods or add the mods and apply the update?

Release Screensavers v0.31.N (and Python v0.1.N).

* Bring the 'cover' mode (use the cover of the last book opened as screensaver) of the K5 port to your good old K2/DX/3/4

It's a bit more hackish than on the K5, so feel free to get back to me if something seems strange
