Silver PRS-505 - $150 + a few books
I'm looking to sell a silver PRS-505. It is in perfect working condition - absolutely nothing wrong with it. I have just been given a Pocket Edition and I prefer the portability that comes with the 5" screen. There are also a couple of books on it: The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest - Stieg Larsson Last Night in Twisted River - John Irving The God of Small Things - Arundhati Roy Solar - Ian McEwan Don't Let's go to the Dog Tonight - Alexandra Fuller **** Highly recommended Alter of Eden - James Rollin Half Broke Horses - Jeannette Walls I have read these books so I have no problem passing them on (the books on the device that I haven't read will be deleted) and I only ask that the ones I leave on NOT end up on the darknet. Without wanting to start a debate I view it as giving away a used book since I have read them. I am looking for 150 (shipping included). I also have seen that some people have commented on sellers reputation... unfortunately I'm not much for posting, but you can see that I have been a member for about a year and none of my other posts have been selling items. I actually check out the forums several times a week and was doing that long before signing up! Thanks, Oliver Last edited by zhuxi13; 07-06-2010 at 06:40 PM. Pictures with a reader and a card showing the name are not proof enough of ownership. The person posting does not currently have enough of a history with MR to be trusted with that sort of photo.
Can we have a photo of this reader showing the eBook For the Win on the screen with your computer monitor showing this thread in the background as well? https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83384 <-- For the Win in ePub with a specific embedded font used |

I'm curious to know how that is not enough? Do you think that I planned this a year ago when I joined the forum and selected the name just because I had found a picture with that name on it???
How is it any different for me to load the book and post a picture of it in front of my screen? If I am able to post a picture of the reader with my username, that certainly means I have access to the device and that I could go through those steps as well. I know that you probably think you are doing people a service by posting this "warning," but I do you mind if I ask what gives you the right to warn people against my sale? You do realize don't you that you are basically accusing me of being a lying thief with no real reason? I, myself, was upfront about not having a long history and explained it... it is not as if I was trying to hide anything and it is up to the members on the forum to decide whether or not to trust it. This is all pointless since the item has been sold... but I really would like to know how your proposed plan to get me to upload that book and take a picture with this thread is any different from having my name on a card next to the reader. |

It's not your sale that's the problem. Someone else posted the same sort of photo and it was spam. If you really are legit, then you should have no issue making a new photo with proof positive that you are selling the reader. |

Maybe if you could say which book the page in the pic comes from - doesn't "prove" you are in possession of course, but it might reassure some people.

Ok, now I get it. I wouldn't know the first thing about changing a name in a photo, which is why when I was trying to figure out the difference it would make I couldn't think of anything. I wish I was that technically savvy (obviously not for purpose of robbing people)! But I see your point.
Anyway, I am actually sending it off tomorrow. I will ask the buyer to post a comment here when he receives it just in case I ever decide to sell my PRS-300... hopefully the next generation sony readers will be enough of an improvement to motivate me to do that!
