The John Rain by Barry Eisler series is very good if you like spy novels and the like.

The Skin Map by Stephen Lawhead was very good , if you don't mind time travel.

Lots of people like the Reacher series by Lee Child (I did like Eisler's Rain series a bit more).

The first 4 books of Joel Rosenberg's "Guardian of the Flames" series are fantastic fantasy adventure stories...but only the first 4.

Jack Du Brul has a series of books about a mining engineer who gets caught up in all kinds of global plots. A bit over the top but fun.

Vince Flynn has a series of books about a CIA operative (Mitch Rapp) who becomes the countries top anti-terrorist assassin.

It's a single book (sold to become a Movie) called "The Rabbit Factory" about the hunt for a killer in a LA Theme park. Author is Marshall Karp. He has a few other books out as well but I have not read them.

There is a whole series of "Agent Pendergast" novels from two authors: Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Try "Relic", "Reliquary" as the first two.

Douglas Preston also has a bunch of stand-alone action/adventure/thriller novels. ("The Ice Limit", "Riptide", "Thunderhead", etc.) He also spent a year in Italy and became involved in a real cold-case of a un-solved series of murders. He annoyed the powers-that-be so much that he was invited to be arrested or leave the country ("The Monster of Florence").

Michael Connelly has a bunch of FBI and Police novels (some of which have been made into movies like "Blood Work"). Try "The Poet" as a good example.

Daniel Silva has a series of books about a young Jewish art restorer who gets recruited by the Israel secret service to hunt down terrorists. I think "The English Assassin" is the first novel in the series - but check. Serious but well written.

While a bit lower-key in the adventure area, Kathy Reich has a series of books about a ex-alcoholic forensics anthropologist that is the loose basis for the "Bones" TV series. While I like the show - the books are better.

It's more humor than adventure but Lisa Lutz has written a series of "Spellman" novels about a family-owned detective agency in San Francisco. The slacker daughter is a bit autobiographical but the characters are interesting. Note: Lisa's training was in writing screenplays and her writing style reflects this. Dont let it put you off.

I've come to enjoy the "Oregon Files" series by Clive Cussler with others as well. It seems much better than some of his other series that he writes with other authors.

If you like historical action-adventure, the Richard Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell should be just your speed. It chronicles the adventures of a British rifleman during the Napoleonic Wars.
The series has gone on too long , but the first dozen or so are excellent.
It was later made into a TV series starring Sean Benn ( now starring as Ned Stark in the HBO miniseries Game of Thrones).
Bernard Cornwell's writing of battle scenes is superb-among the best I've read. He has written other series but I never got into them as much.
Would recommend reading

Sharpe's Tiger
Sharpe's Rifles
Sharpe's Eagles
Sharpe's Company

in that order

Wikipedia on Sharpe series HERE

Sorry, I posted before seeing you have already read Sharpe.

There was one other Bernard Cornwell series that I liked, but not as much as
Sharpe : The Grail Quest series, about the adventures of an archer during the Hundred Years War

Donald Hamilton's Matt Helm Series, although only then first 14 are available as ebooks. Do not equate the books with the movies.

Douglas Reeman's, writing as Alexander Kent Richard Bolito Series. If you liked Hornblower you will like these.

Stephen J. Cannell's Shane Scully Series is good too.

This is going to sound odd, but Cliff Stoll's The Cuckoo's Egg has all the drama and suspense of an action/adventure without a single shot being fired. It's a nonfiction classic from the days of early networking; the true story of how a system administrator tracked down a hacker.
