QuickReader is a highly customizable eBook reader offering touch-free reading and a unique speed reading mode.

What's On iPhone today called QuickReader: "The best app I've seen thus far for reading e-books."

If you would like to try out the app there is a free lite version available.

PRESS RELEASE

Newly Released QuickReader 2.0 Combines An iPhone eBook Reader With Proven Speed Reading Technology

QuickReader partners with Feedbooks.com to offer instant access to 6500+ free and indie published e-books directly from within the new version of the popular eBook reader.

BEAVERTON, OR -- The top-selling speed reading application on the iPhone app store, QuickReader, has launched a new version that upgrades its market leading speed reading technology, offering a significantly enhanced eBook reader interface, and integrating with Facebook and Twitter.

With the release of the new version, QuickReader (http://www.quickreader.net) is also announcing a partnership with Feedbooks, a pioneer in the standardization of eBook distribution. The deal gives QuickReader users instant access to 6500+ free public domain and self-published EPUB books directly from within the application.

"QuickReader 2.0 provides a unique reading experience on the iPhone and iPod Touch. We are glad that we can support this kind of diversity through our OPDS catalog and also help people improve their speed reading abilities through this unique eBook reader," said Hadrien Gardeur, Founder of Feedbooks (http://www.feedbooks.com).

Improving your personal productivity through speed reading is an ability that can be learned over time. Using a specially developed reading guide, QuickReader teaches you how to double or even triple your reading speed in just 10 minutes per day right on your mobile phone. The speed of the reading guide can be adjusted from 100 to 4000 words per minute, fast enough for even Superman!

148Apps (http://www.148apps.com) said in a review of the eBook reader, "QuickReader is a speed reading tool that can produce remarkable results. I was shocked by the rate at which my speed improved. Your mileage may vary, but if you’re a frequent reader you owe it to yourself to give this one a go."

QuickReader is also a state of the art conventional eBook reader, which can be custom tailored to match a user's most demanding reading habits. The app comes packaged with a great set of 50 books to get started, and provides instant access to a library of thousands of downloadable titles, all from a one click interface. Users can also download books from other book catalogs such as the Internet Archive and Calibre2OPDS, and very shortly will offer an exciting iPad version on the App Store.

About QuickReader:

What does your app offer for $6 that sets it apart from apps like Stanza? I don't care about speed reading and don't see that as a plus in a reader app. Reading is something to do at a leisurely, enjoyable pace .

Great question!

Reading faster and enjoying reading are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Wouldn't you like to be able to read more books, in the same amount of time, with the same level of understanding?

Sure, different types of reading require different amounts of time and attention. Ideally, you should be able to adjust your speed according to the material at-hand, speeding up and slowing down as necessary. There is no need to read the morning newspaper as if it were a Shakespeare sonnet. It is like saying I like to go on long Sunday drives, so why would I need a car that goes faster than 30 miles per hour and has more than 2 gears.

I'll leave it at that. I don't mean to start the great speed reading debate.

With respect to other features in QuickReader, I have lots of users that don't necessarily use the speed reading mode of the reader, but enjoy it for the simplicity of the interface, the amount of customization you can do, and the touch-free reading.

Many reading apps on the iPhone have rather utilitarian and confusing interfaces or they are very limited in the amount of customization you can do.

With QuickReader, you can choose from 23 fonts, 100s of font sizes, 19 custom color schemes, or create your own color scheme from 1000s of colors; set line spacing, margins, orientation, and right justification; and turn off the sleep function of the phone (useful in touch-free reading.)

Many find the touch-free reading to be very useful. I have one user who uses it to read in bed. He tires from the constant page turning on the iPhone and can't stand readers that scroll. He puts the phone on his pillow, sets the words per minute to his normal reading speed, turns off the visible guide, and lets the app turn the pages for him.

Yep, now that 2.0 is in the bag, we're hard at work on the iPad version. It's going to be a great platform for QuickReader.
