PRS-600 Frozen on "Opening book"

My device is stuck on the "opening book" screen. I have tried a soft reset (numerous times) It restarts but just hangs again at the same point. It won't let me do a hard reset - I've tried holding down the necessary buttons but no response.

If I plug it into my computer via USB cable the computer recognises that there is a removable drive being plugged in, but when I try to open the drive in Windows explorer I get a "please insert a disk" message so I cant do anything via that route.

The reader is fully charged. The problem occured after using Sony Reader Library software - the program hung and the device did not properly disconnect.

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit if that is relevant.......

Any help would be most gratefully received!!

See if you can use your Sony Reader software to access your Reader and, if so, try to delete the problem book.

Did you try rebooting your PC before using Explorer to access the Reader?

I've rebooted my PC - no change. The Sony reader software doesn't detect the device as being connected. I assume I've got a corrupt file somewhere but can't think how I can access it or reformat my reader.

Try to reset the reader. Just use the little pin on the backside of the tip of the stylus (just unscrew the tip) and press it into the little hole on the bottom plate of the reader. Maybe this gets the reader back.

Oooops. Sorry, I forgot.
I've read in other threads though, that people tried to hard reset for 10 times and more until something happened.
