PRS 600 schwächelt im Sonnenschein???

Moin!

Wir haben folgendes, reproduzierbares Phänomen:

wenn man auf unserem PRS 600 umblättert, während das Display im vollen Sonnenlicht liegt, dann kann man die neu aufgebaute Seite kaum noch lesen. Kippt man das Teil so, dass das Dysplay nicht direkt angestrahlt wird, ist alles oK.

In sehr viel schwächerer Form kann ich das auch auf meinem PRS 505 nachvollziehen, aber da ist die Schrift dann nur minimal blasser. auf dem 600er erscheinen die Buchstaben kaum.

Hat das schon jemand hier so erlebt?

Ja, das Problem ist bekannt. Pocketbook hat gerade einige solche Bildschirme bekommen, Sony anscheinen auch schon wieder. Vor ca. 6 Monaten hatten wir das gleiche Problem mit einigen Pocketbook 301+, und Sony mit PRS-505.

So viel wir erfahren haben, da PVI, welche E-Ink Bildschirme für alle Hersteller produziert, hat wieder an der Qualitätskontrolle gespart, weil die Nachfrage sehr groß ist...

Sie haben mein Gerät eingeschickt und meinen es ginge 2-3 Wochen, bis man das Display ausgetauscht habe. Ich hoffe das neue Display ist dann ok.

Ja, mein PRS-505 hat dieses Problem ebenfalls.
Da ich ihn allerdings im letzten Jahr aus dem USA-Urlaub mitgebracht habe, werde ich mit dem Problem wohl zurechtkommen müssen.
Oder leistet Sony auch hier in der EU für US-Geräte einen Garantieservice?
Ist denn bekannt, was die eigentliche Ursache ist ?

Ja, das hab ich schon verstanden. Bis jetzt habe ich keine bleibenden Schäden bemerkt. Aber was ist die technische Ursache. Was geschieht im Readerdisplay, wenn die Sonne einstrahlt und die Schrift verblaßt. Leidet das Material oder geht einfach nur die Orientierung der schwarzen Ink-Elemente verloren?

Es gibt keine "Dauerschaden",der Text verblast nur unter der Sonne, und in Schatten kann man Problemlos weiter lesen.

Pocketgoods hat eine Theorie darüber, die sich auch hier bei MobileRead finden lässt. Er ist Physiker, also nehm ich mal an das er weiss, von was er redet.

Im englischen Teil des Forums wird immer wieder gesagt, dass, sofern ein Seitenwechsel bei abgeschattetem Display stattfindet, der Text ganz normal lesbar ist.
Insofern trete das Phänomen nur auf, wenn das Display beim Seitenwechsel von der Sonne bestrahlt wird.

Ich kann das aber leider nicht bestätigen, da meine Reader auch in der Sonne voll funktionieren.

Natürlich bin ich froh. Mit leider wollte ich nur zum Ausdruck bringen, dass ich nicht bestätigen kann ob ein Abschatten des Displays beim Seitenwechsel was bringt.

Notfalls kippt man den Reader beim Umblättern so, dass das Display im Schatten liegt (also eher zum Boden zeigt). Muss das auf meinen Teilen aber auch mal testen, wenn die Sonne mal so richtig scheint. Passiert in Deutschland sowieso nicht so häufig ...
