South Korea Lifts iPad Ban

I read that on Tuesday South Korea lifted its iPad ban, with the exception that any shipment of 5 or more iPads will not be allowed in the country.

First, I never heard of the ban until it was lifted.
Second, Why did the Israeli ban get all of the press and the South Korean one wasn't even a foot note?

Because it was second? Actually it did get some minor press. Their ban though was purely economical to prevent people from reselling them for astronomical fees. Israels was a scandal to let the President's son's company sell them and make the profit, under the guise that it didn't meet WiFi standards (which it certainly does).

Do we have any proof of government corruption or is this just media speculation?

The Israel ban? Search around, pretty much all of the articles disclose the fact that the only authorized Apple reseller in Israel turns out to be owned by the president's son. Did they come out and say that's the real reason? No. And they never will. Their excuse was that the WiFi transmitter broadcast over their acceptable limits, which they pointed out were the same limits as the EU. The EU said the iPad was well within their limits (and Apple would have been foolish to design hardware that would be unavailable in the EU) and tests by various organizations after the news of the ban broke out confirmed this. After that news got out Israel lifted the ban, imagine that.

Draw your own conclusions..

So all we do have then is speculation. There could have been another reason that they just didn't want to make public. I mean if it is what you say it is how could they ever hoped to keep it quiet?

Lol. Most politicians seem to think they can keep the things they do quiet.
