Which translation is best of Homer's Illiad?

The translation we were expected to read in university was by Richmond Lattimore. I've read several different ones since and this is still my favourite.

Mind you if you want to look at a "retelling" rather then a straight translation, I like Christopher Logue's "War Music" too.

Yes, the Richard Lattimore translations of both the Iliad and Odyssey are widely regarded as being the best. They maintain the "feel" of the Greek hexameter verse very well, which a lot of the translations lose.
