Thanks for this, greencat! I haven't read Lemony Snicket before so this is an great opportunity to sample them for free. Only two of the series were still priced at $8.99 but as you indicated, I got a bunch at $0.00. Don't have a Kindle so downloaded them to my laptop using Kindle for PC and that works just fine for me.

Yep, Amazon want exterminating for bumping up international pricing. There is a way around it - I'm based in the UK myself and somehow they always come through as free for me. Unfortunately I can't remember how I did it.

I wonder - all but 3 are free in USA - if we're supposed to get carried away clicking on the free titles and "accidentally" add the other ones at $8.99. Or will we talk ourselves into buying the other 3 to have a complete set?

I am using a separate account with no credit card to get the American freebies (which cost $2 in Canada even if you do not download wirelessly) so I did not buy the other 3. But it does bug me a little to have a set that is almost---but not quite---complete

To clarify, when I say that are not free in the UK, I don't mean that they are the usual $2.30 that "free" books cost; I mean that they are what look like full-price, ranging from about $4.50 to over $12.

I'm surprised to see that they're Harper Collins books, with the "price set by publisher" blurb, so in theory they should be free everywhere, right???

Perhaps this was a joke I'm missing, but I can't imagine complaining about stuff that is free. The entitlement mentality of society is really becoming frightening.

I did find it odd that #1 wasn't among the freebies, but who am I to complain about free stuff. If someone wants to offer me something for free I will either accept it or decline it. Complaining that they didn't offer "enough" for free is ridiculous. If you love the series enough that you want it all, paying $27 to get all 13 books is a deal.
