A somewhat melodramatic mystery featuring dishonest bankers, theft, a wayward woman and a number of young people who cannot marry until their reputations are shown to be spotless. There are also a number of strong women, and a man who—like the late Edward Kennedy—has made a bad mistake in his youth and wonders if he can ever shake off its consequences. Mr. Gryce the detective also makes a brief appearance.
