ANyone else notice the "Install updates as they become available with out asking me" option lol... it is enabled by default...

<Sigh> Intel Macs only. Can't run it on either my wife's iBook or my Powerbook G4. I'm getting happier by the day that I went with the Sony eReader instead of a Kindle.

If you had gone with the Kindle you'd still be able to use it with your non-Intel Mac. If you want to read Kindle books on your computer, it would be a problem but if you don't read on the computer, you don't really need Kindle for Mac.

I understand that you're disappointed, but Sony isn't exactly known for their stellar Mac support. In fact, Sony's lack of Mac support is one reason I ended up with a Kindle instead of a 505.

I'd be very surprised if they bothered to release a WM6.5 application, instead of just waiting for WM7.

Actually, Sony's software does support G4 and G5 Macs, AND OS 10.4.

Thanks, I've been waiting for this so that I can buy ebooks from Amazon and (hopefully) liberate them for use on my Cybook. I'll have to test this.

It does now, but it certainly didn't when I was in the market to buy.

I'm not sure why they don't make it a Universal Binary. I can't really see it needing CPU specific features. Unless they are using some ID info on the CPU to create the encryption keys.

I certainly wasn't trying to pick on crop/top, I just found his/her post ironic. Sony's lack of Mac support a few years ago completely crippled the Sony reader for Mac users - you couldn't even buy books from the Sony store. I know calibre allowed users to work around other limitations, but there was still no way to buy from the authorized store - that's a huge miss. I think lack of support for PPC, which Apple themselves has deprecated (Snow Leopard) is minor in comparison.
