How to rebuild database in metafile

This is hard to explain

I had Quite a few books and documents and for some reason Calibre seems to be suddenly not showing the correct amount of titles. The books are still in the folder and in the backup folder but Calibre is not showing them anymore, approx 70% missing. The only thing I have done recently was to install a plugin to sort out my Mobipocket collection DRM and install version6.44 All the titles were there including the Mobi ones, I still have some of them on my Kindle so they did convert ok with the plug-in.

I have uninstalled Calibre - Reinstalled and calibre still only shows the incorrect amount of titles.

I then deleted folder and moved the backup back, still the same problem.

All the missing titles are in the calibre folder but not showing up in Calibre. So is there a way to get Calibre to redo itself and reload all the titles and meta info for the books.

Im hesitant to delete the metadata file until someone says that this is ok.

Hope I have made myself understood to what the problem is

No. The Library Icon shows 37 when it should show 184.

I have deleted the metadata and got Calibre to add the books from scratch so all is ok now.

Yes, my database file has become corrupted as well. A fix would be great.
