May be it was due to that 4 gig file? Did you try putting another 3-4 gig in or a smaller files in?

It wasn't a single 4 gig file. It was a group of files ranging between 20-300 megabytes that equaled around 4 gigs. I don't think fat32 can even accept 4 gig files. I'm pretty sure that the Nook can't handle over 10 gigs, but I'd like it if someone else could verify these findings so I know it's not just my Nook.

This is interesting. Have you tried post 1.2? I am looking to get a 16GB MicroSD for the Nook, but won't if the 10GB limit is still there.
