Macaulay, Rose: Dangerous Ages. V1. 24 Jan 2010
Dame Emilie Rose Macaulay, DBE (1 August 1881 in Rugby, Warwickshire, England – 30 October 1958), affectionately known as Emilie, was a writer. She published thirty-five books, mostly novels but also biographies and travel writing.
Nan is a young novelist who has a large family. Her grandmother lives with her widowed mother (a woman who doesn't know what to do with herself now that her children are grown). Her sister, Neville, is similarly in the same predicament (her children having grown and are attending University), except that her husband is too busy pursuing his career to pay any attention to her. She returns to college to spend her copious spare time, only to discover that her brain was not as brilliant as it was in her earlier years.

Her books were all published as by Rose Macaulay, so I think that adding the "Emilie" is a bit confusing.
Incidentally, I converted her "Mystery at Geneva" a little while ago, so we're slowly acquiring more of Rose Macaulay's titles. I would really like to find a copy of The Towers of Trebizond in order to convert it.
