Video: Pocketbook 901 at CES 2010

Here are prototypes of the 9.7″ Pocketbook e-reader using a new innovative plastic e-ink screen which is more durable and offers even better visibility than glass screens. The Pocketbook 901 is designed to be used for schools, to display school books. A version with wacom input touch screen and Wireless connectivity is also planned.

The name "pocketbook" in this case is indefinitely ironic.

*sigh* The question I have to keep asking in this CES 2010... Will it be released in Europe?

Pocketbook is sited in the Ukraine. So it will *definitely* be released in Europe! Europe (especially Germany, *ahem*) has been THE spawning ground for the Pocketbook series for a worldwide distribution.

those ukranians rule! at a first glance, they will have exactly what i need in a reader: big screen (a4), good pdf support, touchscreen, annotation, open firmware (or at least good firmware support). i wanna get one but cannot wait until september or later. probably i will buy a crappy irex 800 or a decent sony prs-900 which could be sold to purchase the pocketbook

later edit: i was also excited about the irex dr800 when the first announcements came out and now i'm quite disappointed by it, so there's a chance that the same thing will happen with the pocketbook

Got home and I was able to watch this. So, are we waiting for this fall for any of the plastic 9.7 devices.... or anyone else getting one out sooner?

Anyone know if Kindle is going to switch to the plastic screen?

The new DX is due 1/19. It would be a nice surprise if it had the plastic screen, especially since it was also designed for school use. So next week we'll see.

What new DX? Where did you get this info? OR, is that when the international DX starts shipping?

As far as I know the new KDX only differs form the previous one in the wireless module.
