Lets al request mobipocket for their reader

On the mobipocket forum is a thread requesting the mobipocket reader on the iLiad. The more people post in it the greater the chance they will release it.

It would give me confidence if a big e-book player wich has been around for long releases their software for the newest device. My big fear until now has been that content i buy now wil be useless after a couple of years.

If you look at the draft book standard there are reps from both Mobipocket and Irex. Also, buried in one of the links as you get to the shopping cart and announcement about 'DRM compatibility' (don't recall the exact wording) is expected 'soon'. A big guess is that there will be forward, if not backward, compatibility.

Side note, I didn't see Sony represented in the draft standard, but there were a large number of major publishing houses.

Earth to Sony - maybe you aren't driving this market.
