Do Cats have Flinxes?

Ok. So now I've kinda got into Vinge's Cat series, I'm reading the first installment, Psion. And a recurring thought haunts me once and more again...

Cat's Flinx, all he needs to be the same so far is Pip. Altough his relationship with Jule hasn't been mirrored in Flinx as of book 8 so far (Btw probably wrong order, I haven't checked but I think Flinx and Pip are earlier works than Cat).

Does anybody else feel the correlation, or am I going insane?
