When Babies Dream

Definately appreciate the honesty about not liking the dream aspect. Very fair.

To get my point across quickly, I went with a dream concept even though it really is more of a vision quest. I've mostly heard from people who like the visual of a tornado and windows floating around that show Ciara's past but I have heard from one person who thought it was a little disturbing -- a baby caught up in a tornado. I think that person was missing the point of the story, though. Truth is, I do not have an age for Ciara inside the tornado and prefer to leave that detail up to the reader.

I'm definately leaning toward a memoir format (minus the tornados, of course) to tell the rest of the story. I went with dreams for this short because in my novel, my conclusion is that fostering is where babies dream. Beacuase I have only dealt with babies (i.e. kids 3 and under) I've dreamed right along with these kids that life will be better for them, only to find out time and time again, the only time life is safe for these kids is when they are in foster care and all the hopes and expections after then are just dreams. In preperation for that memoir or novel, I wanted to start with this short story that hopefully makes the same point, just in a much shorter and less detalied way. And to see if people will really read my words.
