There's a problem with that part:
If the purchases are authorized by the copyright holder, there's no infringement.
If they're not, the kid is also guilty of copyright infringement.

This was one of the problems in trying to track torrent use--if the downloader is authorized by the RIAA, he can't prove illegal filesharing, because he hasn't received any unauthorized copies--if the filesharers only give copies to people authorized by the RIAA to receive them, no laws have been broken. (If he's not authorized, then he's as guilty as the person they sent him to go find. No agent is going to work under those conditions.)

In order to prove violation of copyright, they have to find an *unauthorized* person receiving the copies.

It would be the first time corporations have broken the law in their pursuit of copyright infringers.

In the past they have used viruses, packet sniffing internet data, trojans, hackers denial of service attacks to go after the people they don't like. Difference is they get away with breaking the law!
