Großer ebook-Reader-Vergleichstest in der nächsten c't!

Heise hat jetzt endlich mitbekommen, daß es die Kindle-Software für PC gibt und schreibt als letztem Satz in diesem Beitrag

"Einen Vergleich aktueller E-Book-Reader bringt c't in Ausgabe 25/2009, die ab 23. November in den Handel kommt."

Bin gespannt, ob da zum Beispiel auch das Pocketbook mit getestet wird - hat die c't Dich deswegen angeschrieben, Forkosigan?

Auf den Test warte ich auch schon ganz gespannt. Das wird das erste Mal sein, dass sich mein Mann und ich um die ct streiten werden.

Ja, habe ich schon erfahren. Ich versuche gerade an den Verantwortlichen zu schreiben, wenn mit Einzeltest als "Nachzügler" klappt, währe es auch perfekt.

Ich habe mich gestern mal zu Freunden eingeladen um die Neue CT lesen zu können. Es handelt sich um mehrere Artikel und sie machen einen sehr positiven und ausführlichen und gut recherchierten Eindruck. Da wird selbst auf Uraltgeschichten wie den Frauenhofer Kreis eingegangen, und der ist wohl seit Ewigkeiten nur noch eine geschlossene Zwei - Mann-Show und den kennt eigentlich keiner mehr wirklich.

Die c't Redaktion hat folgende Geräte getestet, hier eine kurze Zusammenfassung:

- Amazon Kindle 2 (internationale Version)
- Bookeen Cybook Opus
- Hanvon N518
- Irex Digital Reader 1000S
- Iriver Story
- Sony PRS-505
- Sony Touch Edition

Neben der Ausstattung werden Bedienung, Display, Laufzeit und das Leseangebot der Reader besprochen.
Was die Bildschirmdarstellung angeht, haben alle Reader ungefähr gleich gut abgeschnitten. Beim Sony Toch-Edition wird ein verminderter Kontrast und ein blickwinkelabhängiges, spiegelndes Display kritisiert.
Bei der Kernkompetenz Lesen werden der Kindle und der Cybook Opus herausgehoben, ebenso bei der Laufzeit (dito Sony 505) und der Bedienung.
Beim Kindle wird einerseits das Gesamtkonzept und die daraus resultierende Einfachheit in der Bereitstellung der e-books erwähnt, aber auch das "geschlossene, inkompatible System", sowie die stark verminderten Akku-Laufzeten bei intensivem Internetgebrauch kritisiert.

Zusätzlich gibt es noch einen ausführlichen, technischen Artikel, wie man E-Books im epub Format selbst erstellen kann.

Alles in allem war ich von dem Review enttäuscht, denn unter einem großen Test stelle ich mir 10 und noch mehr Geräte vor. Was die Redaktion abgeliefert hat war aus meiner Sicht ein grober Überblick, mehr nicht.

Hab den Artikel jetzt auch gelesen. Wie gewohnt haben die Heise-Leute ein bisschen mehr verstanden als die sonstige Meute von Informatikjournalisten und gehen das Thema ernsthaft an. Was die Reader angeht, kann ich mit dem Test und dem Resultat ganz gut leben! Bei dem Artikel über die EPub-Erstellung gibt es einige sachliche Probleme, ist im Ganzen aber durchaus richtig!
