Wow, that looks really sweet. If the build quality is good and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, it seems ideal.

This looks great! Will keep an eye on this one. Hope the price won't be outrageous.

I like my smart q7 but I have issue with power management and suspense mode and the lamp always being on (WinCE version).

Seems very good. Ie WinMo is a far better OS as WinCE for this kind of product. I also hope the build quality will be better than their competitors.

I could see my self using this one. Any speculation about it's price?

I'm with everyone else here... though I might not read with it, it looks like a nice netbook-type device. I'm also curious as to the cost, but it looks like it may be being marketed to OEMs or corporations, not consumers... so it may not be cheap.

Yes, but with a 3Qi screen

I am waiting for a similar device, but with a Pixel Qi's 3Qi screen. If it turns out that comfortable reading is possible on such screen then I would prefer it over e-ink reader.

Steve,

That looks to be the same as the Archos 7" Iinternet Media Tablet (I think with Android). There is also what looks to be even cooler, the Archos 9 has an MSRP of $499 for a 60GB drive and Win7 Starter edition (had not heard of that edition until finding details about the Archos 9...)

http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60254

So, I can't see the Cmotech being more than that....here is a thread about several of the Archos devices...started looking at the A5 Android and ended up with a lust-jones for the Archos 9...but battery life on the 9" device is only 3-5hrs...not ideal even for casual use...love the form factor and design though! I have a feeling Cmotech is the maker of the at least a couple of the Archos devices.

Nice thing about a Win7 device is all the reader software that should run on it...so that DRM becomes pretty much a moot point. Plus I could store a day's worth of photo's on it when out on a day of making Ansel Adams turn over in his grave when I get behind a lens!

Devices:
  • Sony Clie nx73v -- scored at thrift store for $16 (my fav reader), nice transflective display.
  • Nokia N800 Internet Tablet -- Not my favorite device but it is OK. Still it has a 4.3" display.
  • Kindle 1 -- not much I like about the device, especially the display.
