Calibre: Error communicating with device

When I plug my EZReader in, Calibre says:

ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device

'NoneType' object has no attribute 'authors'

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "calibre\gui2\device.pyo", line 57, in run
File "calibre\gui2\device.pyo", line 199, in _books
File "calibre\devices\usbms\driver.pyo", line 69, in books
File "calibre\devices\usbms\driver.pyo", line 174, in book_from_path
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'authors'

When I try to send a book to it (with Calibre) I get

<b>AttributeError</b>:'NoneType' object has no attribute 'split'

I had a similar issue once but after I used a shorter/different USB cable than this other one I normally use, it was good to go.

If you haven't removed the Chinese language manual from the internal memory yet, go ahead and delete it. Calibre chokes on it and this prevents Calibre from reading any information from the internal or SD card.

Definitely remove Chinese manual as suggested. Also make sure the device is set as Endless Ideas/Bebook Mini to recogize the Pocket Pro.
