Unipage Unifier turns Websites into HTML documents

From Slashdot:

"Unipage recently released a beta version of its Unipage Unifier. The Unipage encoding is a way to encode a full page with its images, CSS, Javascript, Flash, and whatnot, into just one HTML file. The 'Unipage Unifier' program instantly turns any online or local page into a 'Unipage' that can be viewed directly in a browser. It saves the mess of files when you normally save a complete web page, but maybe the bigger scoop is that now people can use 'Unipages' to send content rich documents instead of PDF. But Unipages are superior to PDF in their ability to hold functionality (Javascript), Flash animations and practically anything normally possible in a web page. Together with any program that can export into HTML you can get fully styled, dynamic, portable documents instantly. And it's free."

More over at Unipage.org.

Nice, but it's not completely free. You seem to be required to use a buggy, insecure, overpriced Microsoft product to run it.

I'll give a thumbs up to just about anything that helps you manage content like this!

There is another alternative for saving a page as a single file if you use MS IE anyway... Do... Save As... Web Archive Single File (*.mht).

Have you tried it with Linux using Wine?

Nope. I've never really had much luck with Wine, so I just don't bother anymore.

I have VMWare for when I NEED to run Windows stuff (but I haven't fired that up in about a year).

Not that I'm a PDF fan, but I can load a web page into Open Office today and with a click of the mouse, create a PDF from it.

So while Unipage is a great idea, it's not very useful for me right now.
