It lists many countries where when you click on it, it says not available. So, no Canada yet...

Checked it out. Definitely good news. However, bestseller prices are 11.99 instead of 9.99 as in the US, so I suspect other prices will be higher, too. On the other hand, that may be because of higher 3G delivery costs. And you probably couldn't register the Kindle to take advantage of US prices. Still, a very positive development.

It says that when you download a book while traveling abroad, it costs an extra $1.99 each.

Hmm.

Here is a link to the international wireless kindle which apparently is different internally than the US based one, and $20 more. And yes it looks like there will be an additional $1.99 tacked on to the book price. Since they haven't been shipped yet all countries haven't been added.......

And, of course, the selection for non-US customers is more limited than for American customers - I've spotted some books which are available for Americans but not for Germans.

Probably copyright issues.

I'm interested in comparing different regions.

I'm in Germany, and the Kindle store lists 272,504 titles as available. What's the total number of titles for other regions (including the USA)?

Out of curiosity, I'd like to know what this book costs in the USA:

Stephen Roach on the Next Asia: Opportunities and Challenges for a New Globalization

For Germans, it costs $39.05 - down from a list price of $39.95. That's right, you save a whopping 2% when ordering the digital version.

Also, no word on if the web browser will work overseas (wiki, for example), but I kinda doubt it...

Kindle book is 31.95, hardcover has been been reduced to 26.37. You can check out Amazon US from anywhere -- though not necessarily buy anything.

It expressly states that the web browser will not work at this time.

I chose the Australian box in the drop down Jurgen and it said 280,000 - how did you find an exact title number like that?
