Illustration sources

Are there any good sources to get illustrations from to put into an ebook that you would like to convert? I would definitely like to be able to add in illustrations from the original book, or as close as possible to the original published date, but since I do not have the original, I cannot scan them in myself.

you might check on the internet archive ; sometimes they have full scans including the illustrations.

Google Books is another good source of page scans.

I like the Internet Archive better, because you can get the raw scans at high resolution and in a picture format (not inside a PDF), and work from them.

Internet archive is great, when its search engine is working. I find that, more often than not, if I try to use it during a weekday, the search engine is broken.

I haven't had any problems so far with searching in Internet Archive; but would site searches from Google be an alternative?

I found this the other day while I was searching Google Images.

Don't know how searchable it is, but it's awesome to browse.
