Ayling, Keith: Wildcats Over Casablanca, v1, 14 Sept 2009

This is the true story of fighter pilots and their life in the air and on the ground in North Africa in World War II.

This book told by Keith Ayling is the story of Lieutenant M. T. Wordell, U.S.N. and Lieutenant E. N. Seiler, U.S.N.R.

From the introduction, Fly on the Wall:

I was invited to collaborate with Lieutenants "Mac" Wordell and Ed Seiler on the story of the experiences of the Red Ripper and its companion Navy fighting and scouting squadrons operating from a U. S. carrier during the opening of the second front in Africa, I jumped at the opportunity. For many months I had been looking for an opportunity of telling a simple, straightforward story of American fliers in battle. Here it was, a successful carrier action under unprecedented circumstances, that passed with hardly a notice in the press, because the war correspondents and rewrite men had little conception of the history-making story that was behind the Navy communiques. For the first time, carrier-based aircraft had supported invading troops, and gained control of the air over hostile territory to enable military forces to take over airfields and prepare them for the occupation by land-based aircraft flown in from carriers which had brought them from America.

This book was published in 1943 and copyright was not renewed. Except for the removal of page numbers, it is presented as published without a table of contents or index.
