Any word on the UK press conf today?

There's nothing yet.

And unless they're going to announce their own version of the Daily Edition, I don't see how they willtell us anything we don't already know.

i'm keeping my eyes open too. i'm hoping they'll tell us about availability in europe (not just the UK).

That being what I am vaguely interested in yes.

If it's just a rehash of yesterday without any new info why bother holding a seperate one at all?

The two things i would want to see from a uk or eu press conference would be details about their plans for the daily edition over here and an admission that they were joking with the launch prices for the 300/600 models and that they would be fixing them shortly.

Some info would be worth repeating even if its not new to most of us, sony will presumably want to get attention from the local media and provide them with regional details as far as dates etc. are concerned.

Guess he hasn't been paying much attention to the pricing they have adopted for the 300 and 600, such hefty markups compared with the american prices are not the way to hook anyone.

It's such a shame really, sony have such nice hardware and no mainstream opposition yet, they just don't want to seem to deliver the complete package of well-priced hardware with a properly integrated ebookstore to european customers.

for gawd sake change the record, it no different to the mark-up we UK gets for most things. Jeans, shoes, electronics, toys etc etc etc

In fact it's markedly better than some which are $1:£1

Continually banging on about it isn't going to change the fact that we are regularly done on price. And the fact that successive governments have promised to deal with it and have failed to do so (well for UKP/EUR pricing anyway).

My apologies, I just think the sony readers are such nice gadgets that it would be a shame if they don't end up dominating the market like they deserve.

Don't complain. At least generally you get those things, we on the other side of the pond generally don't.

BOL.com already has the 300 and the 600 in its catalogue! No Daily, though!

Ofcourse not, that will only arrive in December or so... Can you pre-order it on those American sites?

And as there was no mention of the Daily, on the Dutch press conference, I doubt it'll come here any time soon...

The 300 and 600 have less required to push them out over here. The 900 will need mobile service providers as partners. seperate ones for each country at that.

Whereas in the US they could use AT&T for the whole country.

Did they ever actually call it the 900 or is that still just the mr shorthand for it?

As far as carrier support in europe, hopefully they are talking to vodafone as it would make it a lot easier to launch in multiple countries that way even if it means that they won't always be dealing with the #1 carrier in a particular country and with the limits on the wireless functionality there would even be the potential for them to roam across europe without a problem.
